The Director General said in the letter Vietnam is experiencing the fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic with unpredictable developments and a continuous increase in infections, including customs officers and their families.

The pandemic has strongly affected the country’s socio-economic life in general and each officer in the Customs sector.

All customs officers have seriously followed the regulations on pandemic prevention and control of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and the Ministry of Finance and performed their duties well, creating favourable conditions for the business community in the customs clearance of goods, while also ensuring the fight against smuggling and trade fraud, contributing to maintaining security and safety of the community.

On behalf of the Party Committee of the General Department of Customs and the leaders of the General Department of Customs, Nguyen Van Can praised, acknowledged and highly appreciated customs departments: HCM City, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang and Bac Ninh for their response to facilitate businesses amid the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In particular, HCM City Customs Department has established a support team for customs clearance amid the pandemic.

To continue to follow the call for solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic of the Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the special emulation movement that appeals to people nationwide to stay united and join efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic launched by State President Pham Minh Chinh and achieve targets set out by the Government in Resolution 02 dated January 1, the top leader of Customs sector called on affiliated and subordinate units, public servants, officials and employees in the customs sector to promote gained results, focus on facilitating businesses and individuals in the customs clearance;

Customs branches at border gates and international airports to expedite customs clearance of goods, especially anti-pandemic goods and closely work together to conduct customs clearance of goods in areas implementing social distancing or isolation.

The Director General also calls for the strengthening of the application of information technology and modern customs management methods in administrative procedures to ensure supervision and inspection of import and export goods, and strictly sanction public servants who commits acts of troubling and harassing enterprises;

Fighting smuggling and trade fraud, contributing to maintaining security and safety of the community; promptly detecting and handling cases of violations, preventing people from taking advantage of the pandemic situation to commit acts of cross-border trafficking and the illegal transportation of goods;

Introducing solutions for budget collection in accordance with the pandemic and focusing on tasks and solutions developed and implemented since early 2021;

Strictly following guidelines of all levels on pandemic prevention and control, and working with local agencies, departments and sectors to deploy scenarios to respond the Covid-19 pandemic;

Strictly conducting health check and making medical declaration at the request of local Steering Committees for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

The Director General asks customs officers not to be subjective or negligent; heads of units to promptly care, visit and encourage public servants, officials, employees and their families who have been infected with the coronavirus during the performance of their duties.
