Discover 285 bottles of ketamine liquid 10% INJ in a barrel of Lao beer via scanning luggage

VCN – Through a discussion with reporters of Customs News, representative of Nam Can Customs Branch said that while they were using luggage scanners to inspect passengers’ luggage, Nam Can Customs Branch (Nghe An Customs Department) in coordination with Nam Can International Border Guard Station  discovered and seized 285 glass bottles containing illegal Ketamin 10% INJ.

Accordingly, at 9:30 AM on 27/8, during the process of inspecting and controlling means of transport and passengers at the border gate, Customs and Border Defense force inspected a passenger car (Laos) with license plated No.UN 0279 while being implemented for import procedures from Laos to Vietnam.

When inspecting the passenger’s luggage in the car with a scanner, Customs officials - Border Defense officials discovered 3 barrels of Lao beer with unusual images. Then, they conducted a physical inspection and discovered eight cans of beer in the barrel. However, the subject used 8 cans of beer to camouflage many liquid glass bottles in the middle of the barrel which were labeled Ketamin 10% INJ, 25ml.

Immediately, the forces used professional measures and identified the subject who was Phan Tuan Anh (was born in 1992, lives in Van Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) the owner of the above packages.

After inspecting all the luggage belonging to the subject, the forces seized 285 glass bottles of liquid, the labels indicated Ketamin 10% INJ, 25ml, which were hidden in 3 barrels of beer with Laos brand. Moreover, in the subject’s bag there was no document to prove the legal origin.

It is known that the Ketamin 10% INJ is a synthetic drug which causes strong hallucinogenic effects for a user.

Representatives of the Nam Can Customs Branch said that the unit is now coordinating with the Border Defense force to hold in custody the exhibit and the subject as well as complete the dossier for handling in accordance with the regulations.
