In the first 10 months of 2016: Customs collected nearly 216 trillion vnd of revenue

In October 2016, Customs revenue reached 21,500 billion vnd, an increase of 1,500 billion vnd compared to the previous month. In October 2016, a number of imported goods tended to increase such as: The value of computers, electronic products and components was estimated at $US 2.6 billion, an increase of 6.7% compared to the previous month. The value of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts was estimated at $US 2.4 billion, an increase of 4.6% compared to the previous month. The value of telephones and accessories was estimated at $US 1 billion, an increase of 1% compared to the previous month. The value of fabrics was estimated at $US 900 million, an increase of 18.4% compared to the previous month. The quantity of plastic materials was estimated at 410 thousand tons, an increase of 5.6%, worth $US 574 million, an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous month; and other bases increased by 15.9% in quantity with value of $US 500 million, an increase of 15.3% compared to the previous month, etc.
Besides, some of the main exported items also tended to increase compared to the previous month. Specifically: The value of computers, electronic products and components was estimated at $US 1.9 billion, an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous month. The value of footwear was estimated at $US 950 million, an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous month. The value of seafood was estimated at $US 720 million, an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous month. The value of wood and wooden products was estimated at $US 600 million, an increase of 4% compared to the previous month. The quantity of coffee was estimated at 130 thousand tons, an increase of 0.8%, with the value of $US 264 million, an increase of 3.2% compared to the previous month. The volume of exported crude oil was estimated at 763 thousand tons, an increase of 36.5%; with the value of $US 265 million, an increase of 33.8% compared to the previous month.
In October 2016, the total value of exported and imported goods was estimated at $US 31.2 billion, an increase of 4.1% compared to the previous month. Specifically, the total value of exported goods was estimated at $US 15.5 billion, an increase of 0.5% and the total value of imported goods was estimated at $US 15.7 billion, an increase of 7.9%.
In the first 10 months of 2016, the total value of exported and imported goods was estimated at $US 284.64 billion, an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period in 2015. Specifically, the total value of exported goods was estimated at $US 144.08 billion, an increase of 7.2% and the total value of imported goods was estimated at $US 140.56 billion, an increase of 2.1%.
The budget deficit in October 2016 was estimated at $US 200 million, equivalent to 1.3% of the export value. In the first 10 months of 2016, trade surplus reached nearly $US 3.52 billion.
The remarkable Customs revenue in the first 9 months of 2016 derives from the active operations against smuggling and trade fraud. From September 16, 2016 to October 15, 2016, the Customs detected and handled 635 violated cases, with a value of 10 billion vnd.
In the last 2 months of 2016, in order to accomplish the assigned tasks of the State budget revenue, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has requested the units in Customs to continue to implement strict measures of State budget revenues. Specifically, Customs will focus on reducing the revenue loss such as preventing revenue loss from quantity, value and code, C/O, actively implement the application of revenue management measures and accelerate the process of Customs revenue collection. In addition, Customs will also speed up the collection of tax debts.

Besides, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has also directed to promote post-clearance audits, operations against smuggling and trade fraud in key areas, focus on inspections and Customs control through the application of risk management, strengthen surveillance and supervision and tighten the discipline in Customs.
