Lao Cai continues to provide solutions to achieve import-export turnover of US$ 4 billion

Ensure Customs clearance
Specifically, regarding import and export activities, the Chairman of Lao Cai People's Committee directed the Department of Industry and Trade, the Economic Zone Management Board and Lao Cai Customs Department to implement solutions to achieve the goal of the import and export turnover of at least US$4 billion.
To achieve this goal, leaders of Lao Cai province request competent forces to ensure smooth clearance of goods, remove problems and difficulties in import and export activities; review operation of warehouses and yards in the province (especially frozen warehouses) for goods storage if goods have notimplemented customs clearance.
In addition, units should continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Government and negotiate with China on proposal to open one or two auxiliary border gate or border crossing; bilateral border gate pairs of Ban Vuoc-Ba Sai, Muong Khuong- KieuDau; allow import and export via international railway border gate; reform administrative procedures and extend customs clearance time at pairs of Kim Thanh No. 2- Bac Son International Border Gate.
Notably, when the disease is controlled at a safe level, units need to prepare facilities and people to meet the needs of trade; actively implement agreements signed by agencies between the two provinces of Lao Cai and Yunnan.
Organizing talks and exchanging information with Chinese competent forces to remove difficulties and barriers in import and export; speeding up the establishment of border market pairs between Lao Cai and Yunnan.
Gathering information and promptly notify domestic enterprises to prevent congestion of goods at border gates. At the same time, preparing goods for trade activities.
Lao Cai also promotes measures on payment and credit to ensure capital sources for import-export activities, especially enterprises affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Effectively control at border gates
The Chairman of Lao Cai People's Committee assigned competent agencies to immediately implement solutions for the import of machinery, equipment, supplies and fuel via Lao Cai International Border Gate.
Develop processes, procedures and control activities at the auxiliary border gate and border crossings after agreeing with the Chinese side and being approved by the Prime Minister.
Also, he assigned relevant units to adjust trade promotion activities to export goods to new markets to reduce dependence on the Chinese market.
Government and competent agencies in Lao Cai, including Lao Cai Customs Department have made great efforts to ensure the circulation of goods in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently, import and export activities in Lao Cai province are mainly carried out at Kim Thanh International Border Gate No.2 and Lao Cai International Railway Station.
Imported and exported goods via Kim Thanh International Border Gate No.2 are mainly agricultural products, ores and fertilizers; while at Lao Cai international railway stations are mainly fertilizer, phosphorus, sulfur.
According to Lao Cai Customs Department, since the Lunar New Year, the department’s leader has arranged officers to carry out customs clearance 24/7, especially Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch and Lao Cai International Railway StationCustoms Branch.
For example, March 22, despite of Sunday, Lao Cai Customs still coordinated with the competent agencies to carry out customs clearance for thousands of tons of goods with a total value of more than US$2 million.
Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch implemented customs clearance for goods with a total turnover of US$1,878 million, of which, imports reached US$713,099 and exports reached US$1,165 million.
Lao Cai International Railway Station Customs Branch implemented customs clearance for goods with a total turnover of US$445,916, of which, imports reached US$401,886 and exports reached US$44,030.
