The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/10/2021) of October-2021, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 13.16 billion and imports of US dollars 12.98 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 173 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of October was US dollars 26.14 billion, down by 10.1% as compared to the second half of September-2021.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of October of 2021 totaled US dollars 510.46 billion in value terms. It posted an increase of 23.6% (equivalent to USD 97.36 billion) from the same period of previous year. In which, the total merchandise exports value was up 18% to nearly US dollars 254 billion and the total merchandise imports value was down 29.6%, to US dollars 256.45 billion.

In the view of FDI traders, from January to October 15th of 2021, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up by 26.5% to US dollar 353.93 billion.

Export:

When compared with the second half of September-2021, export of first half of October decreased by 14.9%, mostly as a result of the downturn registered in computer electrical products and part thereofs (down by 37.2% - USD 1.04 billion); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 25.6% - USD 848 million); irons and steels (down by 32.4% - USD 297 million equally)…

In the first half of October 2021, import decreased by 4.5% when compared with the second half of September, mainly reflecting the downturn in computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by 12.7% - USD 464 million); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 30.3% - USD 374 millions)…

Highlights 1. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in February 2023, a 5.9% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. Exports went up US dollars 10.3%, to US dollars 26.05 billion and imports increased 1.3%, to US dollars 23.25 billion in terms of month-on-month basis. The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half of February-2023, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 13.44 billion and imports of US dollars 12.38 billion resulted in a trade surplus of nearly US dollars 1.07 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of October was over US dollars 30.32 billion, up by 9.3% as compared to the first half of October. In 10 months of 2022, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 9.59 billion.
