The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of April, 2020 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 9.25 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 9 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 244 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of April was over US dollars 18.25 billion, up by 2.6% as compared to the first half of April-2020. Furthermore, in the first 4 months of 2020, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 2.78 billion.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods in the first 4 months of 2020 totaled US dollars 158.9 billion in value terms, climbed up by 0.9% as compared to the performance of the same period of last year.

In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the total value of exportation and importation in the first 4 months of 2020 reached USD 98.51 billion, down by 1.5% in comparison to the same period of 2019.

Export:

As compared to the first half of April-2020, second half of the month increase in the total export value (12% - USD 991 million equally) is reflected by upturn in computer, electrical products (up by 9.8% - USD 142 million equally); textile and garments (up by 18% - USD 133 million); machine, tools and equipments (up by 14.4% - USD 110 million equally)…

Totally, in the first 4 months of 2020 total export value from Vietnam was USD 80.86 billion, climbed up 2% as compared to the same period of 2019 (equivalent to USD 1.6 billion in absolute value terms).

Import:

The first half to second half of April shrunk in the total of import value (5.5%) reflected downturn in irons and steel (down by 37.8% - USD 166 million); machine, equipment tools and instruments (down by 9.1% - USD 142 million equally); plastics (down by 24.4% - USD 88 million); Fabrics (down by 15.8% - USD 79 million).

From January to second half of April-2020, total import value into Vietnam was USD 78.08 billion, went down by 0.3% as compared to the same period of 2019 (equivalent to USD 224 million in absolute value terms).

According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in February 2023, a 5.9% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. Exports went up US dollars 10.3%, to US dollars 26.05 billion and imports increased 1.3%, to US dollars 23.25 billion in terms of month-on-month basis. The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half of February-2023, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 13.44 billion and imports of US dollars 12.38 billion resulted in a trade surplus of nearly US dollars 1.07 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of October was over US dollars 30.32 billion, up by 9.3% as compared to the first half of October. In 10 months of 2022, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 9.59 billion.
