The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of December, 2021 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 18.68 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 16.08 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 2.6 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of December was over US dollars 34.76 billion, up by 11% as compared to the first half of December-2021. Furthermore, in 2021, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 4.08 billion.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods in 2021 totaled US dollars 668.55 billion in value terms, up by 22.6% as compared to the performance of last year.

In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the total value of exportation and importation in 2021 reached USD 463.43 billion, up by 24.6% in comparison to 2020.

Export:

As compared to the first half of December-2021, second half of the month increase in the total export value (18.4% - USD 2.9 billion equally) is reflected by upturn in machine tools and equipments (up by 28.5% - USD 532 million); telephones, mobile phones and part thereof (up by 19.4% - USD 497 million equally); textiles and garments (up by 27.8% - USD 439 million); computer, electrical products (up by 11.4% - USD 286 million equally) …

Totally, in 2021 total export value of Vietnam was USD 336.31 billion, up by 19% as compared to the same period of 2020 (equivalent to USD 53.68 billion in absolute value terms).

Import:

The first half to second half of December widen in the total of import value (3.5%) reflected upturn in coal (up by 85.4% - USD 160 millions equally); animal fodders and animal fodder material (up by 57.9% - USD 97 million); machine tools and equipments (up by 4.7% - USD 92 million equally) …

From January to second half of December-2021, total import value into Vietnam was USD 332.23 billion, went up by 26.5% as compared to 2020 (equivalent to USD 69.54 billion in absolute value terms).

According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in February 2023, a 5.9% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half of February-2023, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 13.44 billion and imports of US dollars 12.38 billion resulted in a trade surplus of nearly US dollars 1.07 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of February was US dollars 25.82 billion, went up by 42.8% (equal to USD 7.74 billion) as compared to the second half of January-2023.

Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of October was over US dollars 30.32 billion, up by 9.3% as compared to the first half of October. In 10 months of 2022, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 9.59 billion.
