This regulation prescribes the information exchange and working coordination between the General Department of Customs and the Vietnam Administration of Forestry in the management of imports and exports of forest products, and managing the export and import of forest products and specimens of species in the list of endangered wild animals and plants.

One of important coordination contents between the two parties is the coordination in inspection and control of imports and exports of forest products; combating and handling smuggling and illegal transport of forest products and specimens across the border that are itemized in the CITES list.

In addition, the two parties will also coordinate together in the field of: professional training, conferences, seminars, propaganda and dissemination of law; exchange of information, documents and statistical data.

At the signing ceremony, Director General of Customs Nguyen Van Can said: In the coming time, the General Department of Customs would direct its units to effectively implement the coordination regulation, and it may be accompanied by instructions for implementation if necessary. "At the General Department level the coordination is unified, but lower levels may fail to implement in a timely fashion because they have to wait for guidance. After handling the cases, the two parties can advise the two ministries and the Government to ensure both international treaties and national interests," the Director General said.
