Customs officers need creative thinking in building digital customs and smart customs

The meeting on completing the overall process of customs procedures to deploy Digital Customs, a smart Customs model, was chaired by the Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) and participated in by the departments’ leaders.
At the meeting, leaders of the Customs Information Technology and Statistics Department reported on the technical design of the digital customs system. The Risk Management Department reported on the risk management process in the overall process. The Customs Supervision and Control Department provided the overall and core process of customs procedures.
The development and operation of the digital customs system and smart customs model play important role in customs reform and modernisation, Director General Nguyen Van Can said.
Over the past year, Customs has carried out work related to the development of the digital customs system and smart customs model.
Departments have completed the development of overall model and process, and specific process to consult key leaders of the GDVC.
The Director General requested departments’ leaders to research, comment and set requirements on operation to perfect the organisational model, processes and other related contents.
“The implementation of the Digital Customs System and the Smart Customs Model is a new task. Therefore, all officers need to have creative thinking to access new achievements in science and technology such as connecting Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing (ICloud), Mobile (Mobility) to build the model,” the Director General said.
