Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh also wishes the Ambassador and Customs Counselor to create favorable conditions for the two agencies to have closer cooperation and hopes that the two sides will connect and encourage investors and traders to participate in the supply chain of goods between the two parties.

To implement the EVFTA as well as promote effective bilateral customs cooperation, Vietnam Customs proposes that the two sides consider negotiating to sign a memorandum of understanding on the basis of the EVFTA.

However, along with the trade development, the crime of smuggling and trade fraud has also increased, so it is necessary for the participation of two agencies in controlling and preventing smuggling and illegal transportation of goods, especially cooperation in combating crime in the field of customs, said Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh.

At the meeting, Mr. H.E Karl Van de Bossche and Mr. Eddy De Cuyper expressed their expectation that the bilateral cooperation between the two agencies will continue to develop in the future.
