Ho Chi Minh City Customs records over US$53 billion in trade turnover

VCN - In the first five months of 2022, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department carried out customs clearance procedures for import and export goods with a turnover of over US$53 billion.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, the economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City has been stabilized and recovered growth after the serious impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has seriously followed the direction of leaders at all levels in pandemic prevention and strived to overcome all difficulties and challenges to perform tasks, maintain State management of customs, and facilitate trade and socio-economic development.

From the beginning of 2022 to May 15, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department carried out customs clearance procedures for import and export goods with a turnover of over US$53 billion, an increase of 11.20% year-on-year.

Both export and import turnover recorded good growth. Of which, exports rose 8.76% to US$23.925 billion, while imports rose 13.25% to US$29.536 billion.

Thus, as of May 15, 2022, the trade balance through ports in Ho Chi Minh City recorded a deficit of about US$5.611 billion.

To promote import-export activities, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has implemented the scheme on trade facilitation in customs procedures for logistics activities and preventing congestion of import and export goods at Cat Lai Port according to Decision 2318 of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department; ensured 24/7 operation of hotlines, mailboxes and maintained support teams at the Department and branches to promptly receive and handle complaints and proposals of related individuals and organizations.

Vietnam-Australia trade turnover enjoys robust growth

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City Customs maintained and provided online public services at levels 3 and 4 for 100% of Customs procedures at Department and branch levels on the HQ36a Online Public Service System and the National Single Window.
